Who we are
Edutext Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. That means we decide how and why it is used.
Registered office: Crossing House, South Charford, Breamore, Fordingbridge, Hampshire, SP6 2DL. Company number: 03910063, registered in England and Wales.
For any question about this notice or your information, email hello@edutext.co.uk.
What we collect
We collect personal information in three ways: when you send us an enquiry, when the website counts visits and when we look up businesses we may contact. The last two have their own sections below. The contact form asks for:
- 01 Your name
- 02 Your work email address
- 03 Your company
- 04 Your role, if you choose to give it
- 05 Your telephone number, if you choose to give it
- 06 How you heard about us, if you choose to say
- 07 Your message about the problem you want help with
- 08 Your confirmation that you have read this notice
How we use it
We use the details you send to reply to your enquiry and to discuss the work you describe. If you go on to work with us, your enquiry becomes part of the record of that engagement.
Our lawful basis
We rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries that people choose to send us.
Where your enquiry is about a possible engagement, we also rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
For the security check on the contact page, we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the contact form free of spam and automated abuse.
For visitor statistics and for emailing businesses about our services, we also rely on our legitimate interests, as the sections on each explain.
How your enquiry reaches us
The website does not store your enquiry in a database. When you submit the form, the website sends its contents by email to our enquiry inbox, using Postmark (part of ActiveCampaign). The email, and any reply we send, are then held in Google Workspace, which provides our email.
The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., so your enquiry passes through its servers on the way to our inbox. Like most hosting providers, Vercel processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website.
The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check from Cloudflare, Inc., to tell people from automated software. Turnstile runs checks in your browser and sends Cloudflare technical signals about your browser and connection, including your IP address, your browser’s user agent and a TLS fingerprint. It does not read what you type into the form. Cloudflare uses these signals to detect bots on our behalf and, as a controller in its own right, to improve its bot detection. Cloudflare says it does not use them to identify, profile or target individuals. Its Turnstile privacy addendum is at cloudflare.com/turnstile-privacy-policy.
Vercel, Postmark, Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, as set out in each provider’s data processing terms.
Visitor statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a service from Vercel Inc., which also hosts the website, to count visits and see which pages people read, so we can improve the site. The analytics script loads from this website’s own address.
For each page view, Vercel records the page address, the page you came from, the time, your browser and operating system and their versions, the type of device and an approximate location such as the country, region and city. Vercel says it does this without third-party cookies. It tells visitors apart with a hash created from the incoming request, discards that visitor session after 24 hours and says the data is not tied to any individual or IP address. Its description is at vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.
We see the results as totals, such as visitors per page and the sites that sent them. We use them only to improve this website and never for advertising.
We rely on our legitimate interests in understanding how the website is used so we can improve it. Where the analytics stores or reads information on your device, we rely on the exception for statistical purposes in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, added by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. It allows statistics collected to improve a website, provided the website explains them and gives you a simple, free way to object.
You can object at any time with the button below. It records your choice in this browser’s local storage, and the website then sends no statistics from this browser. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an objection too. Vercel does not offer visitors an opt-out of its own, but blocking the analytics script with a content blocker also stops it. If you use more than one browser or device, object in each one, or email us if you need help.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies of its own and does not use advertising trackers. Its fonts and images are served from the website itself. If you object to visitor statistics, the website keeps that one choice in your browser’s local storage.
The contact page loads the Turnstile security check from Cloudflare’s servers. Cloudflare describes the signals Turnstile collects as strictly necessary to detect and block bots, and its cookie policy says it may place strictly necessary cookies on the websites it secures. You can read it at cloudflare.com/cookie-policy.
If we contact you about our services
We may email businesses to tell them about our services. We find business contact details, such as a name, job title, work email address and company, in public sources: company websites, Companies House and published contract award notices.
We rely on our legitimate interests in telling businesses about services that may help them. We email only corporate addresses at limited companies and other corporate bodies. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations treat these as corporate subscribers, so the consent rules for marketing emails to individuals do not apply to them. Every email we send says who it is from and how to opt out.
You can opt out at any time by replying to the email or by writing to hello@edutext.co.uk. Your right to object to direct marketing is absolute. When you opt out, we add your email address to a suppression record so we do not contact you again, and we keep that record after deleting your other details so your opt-out lasts.
We delete the details of anyone who does not go on to send us an enquiry 24 months after our last contact with them, the same period we keep enquiries for.
Who we share it with
We do not share your enquiry with anyone other than the providers named above, who handle it on our behalf, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails for 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. If your enquiry leads to an engagement, we keep it with that engagement’s records for 6 years after the engagement ends.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- 01 Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- 02 Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- 03 Ask us to delete your information
- 04 Object to how we use your information
- 05 Ask us to restrict how we use your information
- 06 Ask for your information in a portable format, where that right applies
- 07 Stop us using your details for direct marketing, at any time
How to use your rights or complain
To use any of these rights, email hello@edutext.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if we start collecting different information or using it in a different way. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
